Nomad Spells
Nomad StrategiesNomads get 1 hit per level after level 30. Most players On one hand, nomads are gods: But: Although you get charm of opening, you will blow most box traps, meaning you'll be teleported, withered, hit for a lot of hits, and so on, if you open boxes on the dungeon level your monster quests are on. My level 436 nomad can box on dungeon level 1, but blows the traps on level 4 and deeper. And, unlike scavvies, nomads are easy targets for thieving monsters taking your items. Another big disadvantage of a nomad is quest difficulty. You are quested deeper at much lower character level than the other guilds. You will need a powerful shepherd to help you build. monster quests down to dungeon level........12............13............14............15 And of course, once nomad is at hits=level, he always will be. Walking around on 14 with only 401 hits is chancy. Quest difficulty apparently also applies to rarity of items quested. A nomad will typically have to surrender a blowup ring or similar while he's still running dungeon level 10 or so. Nomads are supposed to have more "luck" finding such things--but if you're not opening the boxes because you don't want to be teleported, or killed by an explosion, you won't get them. It helps to have several hundred million gold available before building a nomad. This is because nomads gain the ability to use expensive armor and weaponry far faster than they gain the gold to pay for them. And, you'll want the best of everything--because you have so few hits, you need every advantage. While it's true that a human makes levels a bit faster, the difference is minor: it takes a giant nomad about 7 experience points per level for every 6 experience points per level a human nomad takes. (See the UserBlog post on the relative weights of guild and race.) So don't run a human--if you comp 3 times and use tomes to regain the stats, like I did, you'll be age 90 by level 345. If you're a nomad, you're essentially a fighting man. Might as well be a giant. Of over 90 chars who've made it to L999, only 1 has been a nomad, and that a giant. One option is to build up a char in any other guild, then go back to nomad and pound levels on. Or go back and forth, always building the non-nomad level first (after L30 of course). This way, you'll have plenty of hits and maybe gold. Nomad's long suit is in building quickly through the shallower dungeon. |
